Spotify Family Plan Price in 2026: What $21.99 Includes
The Spotify Family plan price in the United States is $21.99 a month as of October 2026. That one bill covers up to six separate Premium accounts for people who live at the same address. Spotify raised US prices in January 2026. Individual moved from $11.99 to $12.99, Student from $5.99 to $6.99, Duo from $16.99 to $18.99, and Family from $19.99 to $21.99. These are US list prices. Other countries charge different amounts, and local tax can sit on top of the bill.

What that Spotify Family plan price pays for
Each person gets their own Premium login. The household does not pass one password around the living room. Separate accounts mean separate playlists, separate recommendations, and separate downloads. The plan manager is the only person who receives the invoice.
On the current US Family plan, members get ad-free music, on-demand playback, and unlimited skips. Offline listening is included. Spotify's limit is 10,000 songs on each device, across up to five devices per account. The app has to come online at least once every 30 days, or those downloads pause until the account reconnects.
The manager can also block tracks labeled explicit, turn video off, and remove specific songs or artists from a younger listener's account.
Audiobook time is the exception people miss. Spotify includes 15 hours a month from the subscriber audiobook catalog for the plan manager only. Unused hours expire at the end of the month. Other members do not inherit that allowance. They need an add-on if they want the same catalog. We explained that limit in the piece on audiobooks that are not included the way listeners expect.
Spotify Family plan price next to the other plans
The headline number is misleading until you divide it. Using October 2026 US rates:
- Individual is $12.99 for one listener.
- Student is $6.99 for one student enrolled at an eligible accredited US college. Spotify checks enrollment through a verification service, and the rate has to be re-checked over time.
- Duo is $18.99 for two people at the same address, about $9.50 each.
- Family is $21.99 for as many as six people at the same address.
Two adults should not buy Family. Duo costs $3 less and still gives each person a full Premium account. Family starts to win at three people. Split three ways, $21.99 is about $7.33 a person, which is already under the Individual price. At six listeners the share is about $3.67 each. That per-person drop is why the Spotify Family plan price gets searched every time Spotify changes the bill.
A student who still qualifies should stay on the student rate unless they live at the Family address. You cannot stack the student discount on a Family seat. Spotify asks students to re-verify, and the discount does not run forever.
New listeners sometimes see a short $0 introductory period. The length changes, and it is usually only for people who have never tried Premium. The $21.99 Family price is what remains after that offer ends.

The same-address rule
Spotify checks that Family members live together. Accepting an invite from another city is the fastest way to lose the seat. After the address is confirmed, members can listen anywhere. The rule is about the home you share, not the room you press play in.
The plan manager sends the invites from the account page. Each adult accepts and confirms the address. For a listener under 13 in the US, the manager creates a managed account instead of a normal email login. That account can be limited to music, with social features reduced and explicit content under the parent's control.
Adding someone, or taking them off after they move out, is covered in how to add or remove a member in a Family plan.
Do not share one password to save a seat
Family exists so nobody has to share a login. A shared password mixes two taste profiles and makes account safety harder. If someone who moved out still knows the password, remove them from the plan, then reset it while you control the email. Read how to keep your Spotify account safe before you store that password in a note the whole house can open.
Downloads follow the person, not the plan. Each member saves songs on their own phone. How to download songs from Spotify covers storage and the 30-day reconnect rule.
How the $21.99 bill is paid
Spotify charges the plan manager once a month. It does not split the invoice. Housemates who want to divide the cost have to do that themselves. Gift card credit still redeems against a subscription, and the practical routes are in how to earn Spotify gift cards. A card does not lower the Spotify Family plan price. It only changes how you pay.
If the household will not use three or more seats, compare the bill with Individual, with Duo, or with other listening apps before you commit to $21.99 a month.

FAQ
How much is the Spotify Family plan in 2026? In the United States it is $21.99 a month after the January 2026 increase, for up to six Premium accounts at one address.
Is Duo cheaper than Family? Yes, when you have exactly two people. Duo is $18.99. Family is the better rate once a third listener lives in the same home.
Can every member download music? Yes. Downloads sit on that member's devices. They are not pooled into one household folder, and each account still has to reconnect within 30 days.
Do children need an email address? Younger listeners can use a managed account created by the plan manager, with controls for explicit songs and video.
The Spotify Family plan price is easy to misread if you stop at $21.99. Divided across three or more people who live together, it is the cheapest official Premium option Spotify sells in the US right now. Two people should take Duo. A student living alone should check the $6.99 student rate before joining anyone else's plan.
